Call to Worship

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
      the Father almighty,
      maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
      the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
           God from God,
           Light from Light,
           true God from true God,
      begotten, not made;
of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
           he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
           and was made human.
           He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
           he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
           He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory
to judge the living and the dead.
           His kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
      He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come. Amen.

As For Me (Psalm 73)

Why do the wicked men prosper
Why do I envy the proud
They scoff and they rage
And defile Your name
Still riches and favor abound

Lord would You keep me from stumbling
Guard me from all of my doubt
My heart and my flesh
Though they fail me again
You are the strength that I've found

And as for me Your presence is my good
As for me Your presence is my good
You are my treasure my portion forever
As for me Your presence is my good

Faithful You are to remind me
Faithful to show me the truth
Finally I see You are all that I need
And all that I need is in You

And as for me Your presence is my good
As for me Your presence is my good
You are my treasure my portion forever
As for me Your presence is my good

Whom have I in heaven
Who else would I run to
There is no one I desire
Only You only You only You

Whom have I in heaven
Who else would I run to
There is no one I desire
Only You only You only You
Only You only You only You

And as for me Your presence is my good
As for me Your presence is my good
You are my treasure my portion forever
As for me Your presence is my good

And as for me Your presence is my good
As for me Your presence is my good
You are my treasure my portion forever
As for me Your presence is my good
As for me Your presence is my good

Christ The Solid Rock

VERSE 1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name

VERSE 2
When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on his unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

CHORUS
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

VERSE 3
His oath, his covenant, his blood
Supports me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay

CHORUS
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

VERSE 4
When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in him be found
Dressed In his righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

CHORUS
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

All I Have Is Christ

Verse 1
I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave
I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still

Chorus
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life (x2)

Verse 2
But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross
And I beheld God's love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace

Chorus
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life (x2)

Verse 3
Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me
Oh Father, use my ransomed life
In any way You choose
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You

Chorus
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life (x2)

Passing of the Peace

Romans 15:5–7 (ESV)

5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,  6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

Preaching of the Word

Philippians 2:19-30 (ESV)
[19] I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. [20] For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. [21] For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. [22] But you know Timothy’s proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel. [23] I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, [24] and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also. [25] I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need, [26] for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. [27] Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. [28] I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. [29] So receive him in the Lord with all joy, and honor such men, [30] for he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me.

We Will Feast In the House of Zion

Chorus 1
We will feast in the house of Zion
We will sing with our hearts restored
He has done great things, we will say together
We will feast and weep no more

Verse 1
We will not be burned by the fire
He is the Lord, our God
We are not consumed by the flood
Upheld, protected, gathered up

Chorus

Verse 2
In the dark of night before the dawn
My soul be not afraid
For the promised morning, oh, how long
O God of Jacob be my strength

Chorus 2
We will feast in the house of Zion
We will sing with our hearts restored
He has done great things, we will say together
We will feast and weep no more

Verse 3
Ev'ry vow we've broken and betrayed
You are the faithful One
And from the garden to the grave
Bind us together, bring shalom

Chorus 2
We will feast in the house of Zion
We will sing with our hearts restored
He has done great things, we will say together
We will feast and weep no more

Lord's Supper

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Luke 22:14–20 (ESV)

14 And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

Commission

1 Thessalonians 5:9–11 (ESV)
9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
